The United States’ Congress has invited you, as a historian of U.S. immigration, to provide a historical perspective on the current immigration “crisis” on the southern boundary involving undocumented immigration from Mexico and Central America. They would like to know the key public policies, government agreements, and other events from the past that have created (and explains) the problem of “illegal” immigration from Mexico and Central America.    Your paper should be 3-4 pages (no less than 3 pages), 12-point font, 1-inch margins, double-spaced. Your paper will be graded on the quality of the analysis and the writing. A strong paper will have a clear thesis and will draw on course lectures, readings, and videos for evidence and examples. As always, writing matters. Typos, grammatical errors, and unclear writing will negatively impact your paper grade.
