Your task will be to explain in clear and presentable format Theodor Adorno’s concept of the culture industry. After, you should pick one section of our mass media (film, music, books, advertising) and describe in detail 1) how the content in that sector is eerily similar and 2) possibly how that content makes people passive so that they don’t question the values of their own society.
Requirements and Assessment (Total of 25 points):
Introduction and definition of Adorno’s conept of the culture industry. Use the reading from Chapter 3 of the textbook (pp. 88-100), the power point slides provided, the library, or any on-line resources to complete this section. (7 points)
Describe your sector of mass consumerism. As written above, you should pick one section of our mass media (film, music, books, advertising) and describe in detail 1) how the content in that sector is extremely similar and 2) possibly how that content makes people passive so that they don’t question the values of their own society. (10 points)
