The assignment has the following three parts: 1. One page summary of the first article: Kitchin, R. 2014. “Big Data, new epistemologies and paradigm shifts.” Big Data & Society, April–June, pp. 1–12. Students need to address two questions: What is the article about? What are the main points of the article? 2. One page summary of the second article: Kitchin, R. 2017. “Thinking critically about and researching algorithms.” Information, Communication & Society, Vol. 20, No. 1, 14–29. Students need to address two questions: What is the article about? What are the main points of the article? 3. Conclusion: Critical Comparison. In the concluding ONE paragraph, students need to compare the two articles in the context of what they have learned and raise critical questions/issues.
